Tan Nike Shox suede cleaning?

I have a pair of Nike Shox that are suede like material. I've kept them pretty clean but they are starting to get dirty. What can i do to clean these? I have some Suede and Nubuck cleaner but it doesn't seem to be working. I'm not for sure that these shoes are suede or not so should i take a chance washing them? Does anyone else have a pair like this? What did you/should i do to clean these shoes?
