Nose and ear congestion?

Ive been feeling congested for about a little over a week now. My right ear is plugged up and i try to pop it but nothing works. My nose is stuffed up and i have a slight cough. I went to a doctor and they said i just had fluid in my ear. But it used to be in my left ear now its in my right. Ive been talking tylenol pm and mucinex. I cant afford more medicine. Is there any tricks but getting rid of this at home?
